I have developed a novel photocatalyst strategy that can participate in the dehydrogenative coupling of alcohol with nucleophiles under mild conditions for the formation of C-C, C-N bonds, and N-heterocycles. Employing alcohol building blocks, this methodology will allow access to a broad array of highly functionalized coupled adducts, including numerous drug analogs in a cleaner and greener way by utilizing light to overcome the energy barrier of the reaction, hence, eliminating harsh reaction conditions.
I have also utilized organophotocatalysts to activate elemental sulfur and synthesize various sulfur-incorporated N-heterocycles under ambient reaction conditions.
I have explored the photoinduced formation of C-P bonds to synthesize important phosphorylated compounds.
I have also worked on synthesizing various Mn(I) complexes and exploring their transfer hydrogenation properties.
